I had to try The Beach House Spa since I love the beach and they use Dermilogica products which I really love too! I give my facial experience an 8 out of 10. The spa was in the process of changing locations on the day of my facial. I probably should've rescheduled, but I decided to keep the appointment since I was there. I probably would have had a more relaxing and much more pleasant experience if I had rescheduled after they had time to transition into the new space. The esthetician did leave me in the room a few times, and one of those times I thought she had forgotten about me. Other than that my facial was very through and one of the best I've had in a while. They were also offering an add on for a foot, or back treatment. I chose the back treatment which was worth it! I'll definitely will go back again.

My mom, my sister, my niece and I did a "girls Christmas" spa day last year and we went back for a second time this year expecting the same good experience. This year, from minute one of walking in the place (they're in the process of moving, which would be fine if they were more organized) we had nothing but unprofessional treatment. All of the therapists were utterly clueless that we had even had any appointments booked prior to showing up (our mom scheduled the appointments several weeks ago directly with the owner of the spa); they didn't even ask our names, or that our mom had already paid for the services upfront already. They treated us as if we were just walk-ins looking for massages on the spot.
We also did what the owner asked of us, which was to put in a google review prior to our appointments to get an additional 15 minutes added to our massages/treatments (which we did not receive). The massages themselves were somewhat ok, but were very rushed.
And worst of all, all four of the therapists cornered the four of us before we left, like I said, asking how we wanted to pay; and then once we told them we already had paid prior to the appointments, they asked if we were going to provide them tips. And yes we did, more because we just wanted to get out of there honestly. Our mom felt terrible afterwards, apologizing to us, and it was NOT our mom's fault at all. We hoped to have another decent experience, but we were very sadly disappointed.

I called this morning to schedule a last minute appointment and they were kind enough to squeeze me in. The staff was very helpful and welcoming when I called and when I arrived for my appointment. I had the 60 minute Himalayan Salt Stone Massage with Ilona. Ilona was wonderful from ensuring she knew what I wanted to ensuring I was comfortable throughout the whole process. I ended up leaving purchasing a special for another massage at a later date. So, needless to say I will be going back.

We were visiting from out of town (DC) and decided last-minute to treat ourselves to a couples massage and we are SO glad we found this place! From the moment we called they agreed to open early for us since they were all booked up for the day we needed. The customer service was incredible. They were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to accommodate us.
The entire experience felt so thoughtful and professional. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already wishing we could come back again soon. The facilities are clean and smell so good. Excited to visit their new Columbia location when it opens.

TLDR: I would personally not recommend this spa for facials and would not feel comfortable returning. To give you an idea of my experience - the aesthetician who worked on me told me I needed to go to a dermatologist to get my skin fixed...unprompted lol
My husband booked a couple's facial as a law school graduation gift for me. I was really looking forward to relaxing and feeling refreshed and glowy after the appointment.
They told us that our apt needed to be pushed back because no aestheticians were available (even though he booked weeks in advance). As an apology for the inconvenience, they offered us 30 minutes in the sauna. The host recommended we enter the sauna nude. Everything was fine up until someone knocked on the door to ask if we were ready about 5 minutes early. This was fine - it just startled us a bit because we were still naked lol
We followed instructions to dry off and lay on the spa bed under the sheet. We overheard the host explaining to the aestheticians why were in the sauna and their scheduling. When the two aestheticians came in, it seemed as if they were unclear as to the schedule and what they were supposed to do for us. Their materials were (a bit chaotically) brought in on their tool cart. They didn't review our intake form in advance. (To me, all of this seems like poor planning, lack of communication and professionalism)
The aesthetician who worked on my husband seemed very friendly and knowledgable with great bedside manners and let him know each step she was planning on doing.
My aesthetician, however, was in and out of the room to get more materials in the first half of the facial. She didn't give me a clear understanding of what will be treated (dryness, inflammation, pores, etc) or what kind of facial we will be doing. When she asked me about my skin, I mentioned I had a lot of scarring from acne. Instead of telling me the kind of facial we will be working on or what she noticed upon shining a bright light to analyze my face, she repeated several times that I need to go to a dermatologist to get my skin fixed and asked me if I've ever been to a dermatologist and if I use any skin care. (Maybe she thought I was telling her to get rid of my scars via a facial but I also let her know I had bad acne and went through accutane, which typically means that I have enough exposure to skin related issues to have a basic understanding that facials and medical treatments are not the same thing. Idk, it all just seemed odd that she kept telling me that I need to go see a dermatologist to "get that fixed." All it made me feel was more unease, lack of trust, and just plain self-conscious and bad about my skin.
I also noticed that my husband and I got almost the same exact facial treatment once I asked her to tell me what she was doing for each step as she did them. This rang some alarm bells for me in my head because my husband and I have entirely different skin types.
Lastly, at the very end, she didn't complete the ending of my facial. Instead, she left abruptly before the last step and had my husband's aesthetician do the final micro frequency wand treatment on me after she was done with my husband.
All of this was very strange. I've had facials done before and so have my husband. We've never experienced such disjointed and uncomfortable facial experience.
I can confidently say that I was not feeling relaxed after this experience, which was quite disappointing. I don't say all this to bash any one specific person. Instead, I write all this as a way to bring awareness to the business that this type of experience is unacceptable for paying clients. I think my husband paid around $300 for the couple's facial, which is not the cheapest we have seen. I also want to bring awareness to other potential clients who are considering booking an appointment - I think it's best to look elsewhere.
I kept two stars because my husband's aesthetician was nice and did a good job explaining things and the room and sauna were clean.
